The city of Key West on the island of the same name is located at the western end of the Florida Keys in a picturesque location between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. The city area includes the neighbouring islands Sigsbee Park, Fleming Key and Stock Island. Sunset Key is only accessible by boat. The connection to Key West is from the mainland via the Overseas Highway.

The southeasternmost state of the USA has a tropical climate all year round. Key West is the warmest city in the USA that has never experienced frost. This is due to 361 days of sunshine. At the beginning of August, during the season of lobsters and festivals, the island expects a large number of visitors. From June to November there is hurricane danger. Diving and snorkelling, fishing and deep-sea fishing become a pleasure in the third largest coral reef on earth.

If you don't want to search for Spanish gold treasures while diving in the natural paradise of Key West, you can make an excursion to the Vandenberg Wreck. The rocket launcher from the Second World War lies off Key West at a depth of 46 metres and has already served as a film set. From the City Marina, the ferry departs for Dry Tortugas National Park, the most remote protected area in the USA. Here snorkeling in Fort Jefferson is one of the highlights.

Not far from the main street Duval Street, locals and tourists gather every evening at Mallory Square Dock to watch one of the spectacular sunsets of Key West when the weather is good. Street performers, bars and restaurants vie for the attention of those present. Key West has attracted writers such as Tennessee Williams and Ernest Hemingway, whose home at 907 Whitehead Street can be visited.

The author is said to have been helped by one or the other mojito in his literary world successes. To this day, the best Hemingway double is sought in a competition in Key West. Among the personalities who felt attracted to the island were US President Harry S. Truman and inventor Thomas Edison. It is only a few minutes' walk from the city centre to Southernmost Point. In fact, the southernmost point of the United States is located in Flamingo, in the middle of the Everglades. The buoy at the marked spot of Key West is considered the most photographed motif in Florida.

Theatres, museums, galleries and the beach of the resort can be explored at best on foot, by bike or in a bus. The Butterfly and Nature Conservatory in Key West is home to up to 60 colourful species of butterflies. On a tour through the air-conditioned habitat, visitors discover the diversity of exotic plants and animals in a glass house. Impressive waterfalls create a unique atmosphere for an unforgettable stay.
