There is hardly any other state in the USA where the American way of life is as true as in Florida. Openness and optimism characterize the people here, and nowhere else is the money as easy to spend as here. Florida is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. The coastline is 3,000 kilometers long, the sea shines emerald green and the endless white beaches are also among Florida's attractions.

But that is not all that attracts visitors from all over the world. In the wild, the endangered Florida crocodiles, sea eagles, pelicans and the underwater world is populated by many fish in all colors. Florida has a total area of over 170,000 square kilometers. This extends from Pensacola to Key West. Which region is visited depends on the season. Pensacola is a typical holiday destination for the summer. Fort Lauderdale is also one of the destinations visited by all nations during a stay in Florida. Not to forget Miami, Orlando, Cape Canaveral, the Everglades and the Florida Keys.

The sports activities in Florida
In Florida there are plenty of sports activities on land or water. Besides diving or fishing, cycling, hiking and boating are ideal. Whoever takes part in a boat tour can observe exotic animals in their natural environment, go on a catamaran trip or simply admire the wonderful sunset. For the more adventurous there is the possibility of parasailing, jet skiing or surfing on the east coast.

A special experience is the trip with the glass-bottom boat to get to know the exotic underwater world at the coral reefs. If you want to experience the real American way of life, you should visit a baseball game or watch a basketball game. Also extensive bike tours through Miami Beach give an impression of America. Along the Ocean Drive, bicycles can be rented. A day trip away from Key West is the Dry Tortugas, a group of islands that can only be reached by seaplane or boat.

Here lies the star-shaped Fort Jefferson, which was an important base and military prison in the 19th century. When the weather is good, visitors can see dolphins, turtles and sometimes sharks and shipwrecks lying on the seabed on the way there. But Florida is also a paradise for golfers. There are about 1,400 courses here. This makes Florida number one among the golf courses in the whole country.

The climate and the best time to visit Florida
From June to September you have to expect rain, because then it is the rainy season here. Thunderstorms can be quite violent and a very high amount of precipitation can be expected. In addition, the notorious hurricanes can occur during this time. The average annual temperature is 24 degrees Celsius. The sunniest time is from June to August. The coldest months are December, January and February, although this winter cannot be compared to the winter in Germany. The thermometer here fluctuates between 15 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius. Therefore Florida is an ideal travel destination.
