The US city of Houston is located in Texas and has a flourishing oil and gas industry. It is also known for good beef. The city on the banks of the Buffalo Bayou was founded in 1837 and named after a general who was also Texas' first president.

Most of the city's attractions are located near the city center. The museum district is worth a visit, as is a stroll through Hermann Park. The Downtown Aquarium and the Houston Zoo are located here. The city is also the ideal destination for all nature lovers.

The climate here is temperate and offers ideal conditions for outdoor activities. The city park Discovery Green awaits visitors with beautiful bike paths and playgrounds. The extensive Memorial Park is 13 kilometers from the city center. Long walks are also possible here. A golf course is also part of the park. The Arboretum and Nature Center also offers idyllic walks in the beautiful gardens. The native flora and fauna of the city can be explored in the Discovery Room.

Those who are enthusiastic about science can take a look around the NASA Space Center, which is about 40 minutes by car from the city. There you will find decommissioned spaceships and artifacts that can be visited. A guided tour through the old areas is also possible. Families can enjoy themselves at the Moody Gardens theme park, which is located on Galveston Island, about 80 kilometers away. The Kemah Boardwalk is closer, but is also located by the water.

A ride on the fast wipeout, the historic carousel is also possible there. 32 kilometers from the city center is the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. The owner of the Sparrow Bar in Houston is Monica Pope, who was born in Nuremberg because her father, a U.S. Army member, was stationed there. She was also the one who introduced the concept of regional ingredients in Houston. She regularly creates dishes with an international touch. Of course, Houston also has other restaurants to offer where a visit or reservation is worthwhile. These include the Chama Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse, which offers sophisticated and varied cuisine.
